White Fused Alumina

Description:
White Fused Alumina (WFA) is a high-purity, electrically fused alumina produced by melting high-quality alumina in an electric arc furnace at temperatures exceeding 2000°C. This results in a pure, crystalline material that is white in color, providing excellent hardness, high wear resistance, and thermal stability. Due to its superior properties, White Fused Alumina is commonly used in high-performance applications such as refractory materials, abrasives, and sandblasting.

Our White Fused Alumina is carefully processed to ensure a consistent product with precise particle size distribution and minimal impurities, making it ideal for use in demanding industrial environments.

Applications:
Refractory Industry:

  •  Manufacturing of Refractory Bricks: Used to produce refractory bricks for high-temperature applications like furnaces, kilns, and reactors.
  • Cement and Steel Industries: WFA is used to manufacture fire-resistant linings, ladle linings, and furnace linings to withstand extreme heat and thermal shock.
  • Casting and Foundry: As a high-alumina, heat-resistant material in investment casting and metal mold applications.

Abrasive Industry (Sandblasting & Grinding):

  • Abrasive Grains: WFA is used as a key material in producing abrasives like grinding wheels, polishing compounds, and blasting media. It’s ideal for high-precision applications requiring sharp edges and hardness.
  • Sandblasting and Surface Cleaning: White Fused Alumina is extensively used in sandblasting operations, particularly for cleaning surfaces, deburring, and preparing materials for painting or coating due to its hardness and consistent particle size.

Key Features & Benefits:
a) High Hardness: With a Mohs hardness of 9.0, White Fused Alumina is one of the hardest abrasive materials available, providing excellent wear resistance and cutting performance.

b) High Purity: Composed of over 98% alumina, it offers superior consistency and reliability in demanding applications.

c) Thermal Stability: WFA can withstand extremely high temperatures, making it ideal for use in refractory applications and in environments requiring thermal shock resistance.

d) Chemical Inertness: In addition to its high thermal stability, WFA is chemically stable, making it resistant to acidic or basic attacks and providing excellent longevity in harsh environments.

e) Uniform Grain Structure: White Fused Alumina is known for its uniform grain shape and size, which ensures consistent performance in sandblasting and grinding operations.

f) Low Contamination: The low iron content in WFA reduces the risk of contamination, making it ideal for precision abrasive and refractory applications.

Grades Available:
Standard White Fused Alumina: Suitable for general-purpose sandblasting, grinding, and refractory applications.

Fine White Fused Alumina Powder: Used in high-precision abrasive applications and for fine-grinding, polishing, and micro-abrasion.

High-Purity White Fused Alumina: Lower impurity levels for specialty applications requiring superior performance under extreme conditions, such as in the steel industry and advanced refractory manufacturing.
